Following the recommendation of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to postpone events that consist of 50 people or more CCWMA leadership have reluctantly decided to postpone this Saturday’s March 21st Spring Banquet & Raffle. Raffle tickets will remain on sale as leadership does intend to reschedule the event at which time the raffle will be drawn. We will provide updates as they become available via email, the website (www.ccwma.org/news) and Facebook. Thank you for your understanding.
Out of an abundance of caution the ORWMA Purple Martin
seminar schedule for tomorrow Saturday, March 14, has been cancelled.
Bert Stiplecovich (713-540-2378 firstname.lastname@example.org) has agreed to cancel
and hopes that we contact him for another chance to present the Purple Martin
event again. March/April is when you need to get your Purple Martin houses up.
He wants to let everyone know that if you are interested in getting set up for
this season’s Purple Martins, you are more than welcome to contact him by
phone or email and he will be more than happy to assist you or send to you by
email any information needed.
Well, spring has almost sprung. We have reset our clocks to daylight savings time (spring forward fall back). The 15 day forecast shows nightly low temps in the 60’s and highs in the 70’s & 80’s. The grass is turning green, trees are starting to grow new leaves, and the wild flowers are beginning to bloom.
Soon the catkins will start falling (you know those little tassels that fall from the oak trees). I had to look up the real name. My tree book says they only fall for 4 days. I know last year they were falling faster than I could blow them off the driveway.
Also, the fawns will soon begin to appear. So, when you start cutting grass or shredding your pasture be sure to keep your eyes open for them. And remind your visitors if they see a fawn to leave it alone. Mama deer knows where she left her baby and she will come back for it.
Spring is a time of growth and activity. So too, is Oakridge Ranch and ORWMA. We have a lot of new property owners so far this year and ORWMA has a lot of activities. There is a Purple Martin seminar at the community center on March 14 at 9 am. CCWMA (of which we are part) will have the annual Spring Banquet at the Columbus KC Hall on March 21, doors open at 4 pm. The annual ORWMA fish fry & shrimp boil will be held at the community center on April 25. And of course, ORWMA meets at the community center on the 1st Sunday of the month at 4 pm. All landowners are invited to attend. Earl FlyORWMA President
